AUSTIN – The Board of the Texas Dept. of Information Resources (DIR) has named Stacey Napier as the new executive director during their quarterly board meeting held Feb. 25.
“I’m honored to be called upon to serve the state of Texas as DIR’s executive director,” said Napier. “Texas and DIR are leading the way in delivering technology services that enable our customers to fulfill their constituent missions and efficiently serve the Texas public.”
Napier, who is currently the director of administration for the Office of the Governor, will now serve the state of Texas as the executive director of DIR. As head of DIR, Napier will provide leadership and direction on technology matters to the state and DIR. She will also coordinate key statewide initiatives and oversee the daily operations of the agency.
The executive director also has statewide authority for information and communications technology planning, procurement and service delivery.
“Stacey’s integrity, wisdom, and work ethic are unsurpassed in government,” said John Scott, DIR Board Chairman. “I look forward to working with her in her role as Executive Director at DIR.”
Napier joins DIR after many years of state service. Prior to her position in the Office of the Governor, she was with the Texas Attorney General’s office for more than 10 years, most recently as the Deputy Attorney General for Administration. She holds a law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University.
Napier’s role as executive director will be effective mid-March.
