State and local governments must complete training by June 14, 2021 and certify training compliance by June 15, 2021.

Texas Government Code Section 2054.5191 and 2054.5192 requires state and local government employees and certain state contractors to complete a certified training program.   The training requirements must be completed by June 14, 2021 and state and local governments must certify their training compliance by June 15, 2021, using the Cybersecurity Training Certification for State and Local Governments form.  The form to certify cybersecurity training is here:

Cybersecurity Training Certification for State and Local Governments

State and local governments can track their compliance in any method they choose and will not submit training records or employee certificates of completion to DIR.  However, DIR has an optional tool, Texas by Texas (TxT), that state and local governments can use to track employees' training compliance. With TxT, employees will report their training completion, and DIR will send reporting from the TxT application to each organization to verify training compliance.
