The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) and Austin Community College (ACC) have partnered to provide interested Texas state agencies and local governments the chance to offer paid internships for IT students enrolled at ACC.
These internships provide valuable paid work experience to students who often are self-supporting while allowing state agencies the opportunity to generate interest in public service for future service in the public sector. In addition, the program allows public entities to quickly obtain interns without the rigors of usual employment practices which can be inefficient for short-term internships. The ACC Department Chair vets interns and sends resumes for those that meet the qualifications of submitted requirements.
ACC offers staffing services for IT Internships through DIR’s Cooperative Contracts Program. ACC’s IT Internship Program places students in internships for the following technical areas at rates not to exceed $25 per hour:
- Data Management
- Project Management
- Customer Technical Support
