The Open Data Portal (ODP) is the official website to access state of Texas information that can be freely used, re-used and redistributed. ODP is available to DIR customers to post public data for sharing with citizens/public, vendors, academic personnel, researchers, journalists, state agencies here in Texas, and other agencies both nationally and internationally. DIR provides use of the ODP to DIR customers at no charge! ODP can be found here.
Open Data Portal Benefits
The ODP provides a secure, cloud infrastructure that DIR customers can use to share open data through a centralized portal for constituents thus creating greater government transparency. Since the passing of SB 79 in the 85(R) session agencies can direct public Information requests (PIRs) to a machine readable, publicly accessible website so that requesters can "self-serve" their data needs. This model allows for greater flexibility and availability for constituents as well as greater efficiency for DIR customers.
