UTSA Webinar: Cyber Aware - Deepfakes

Thursday Feb 29, 2024
10:00am - 11:00am CST

Overview

In our ongoing series on Cyber Awareness, this month we will explore the topic of deepfakes. Deepfakes, particularly their misuse for malicious purposes, have become increasingly prominent in the news. A deepfake refers to a highly convincing piece of media generated through artificial intelligence (AI), utilizing images and recordings of the subject. The term 'deepfakes' is derived from the deep learning techniques employed in AI for their creation and their use in producing deceptive content. These manipulations can extend to videos, still images, and audio, where an individual's voice can be accurately replicated to make it appear as if they have uttered statements they never did. Our discussion will cover the nature of deepfakes, their potential impact on small businesses, and strategies that small businesses can employ to safeguard against the threats posed by deepfakes.
