AUSTIN - The Board of the Texas Dept. of Information Resources (DIR) has named Amanda Crawford as the new executive director during their board meeting held Jan. 25.
"I'm honored and humbled to accept the board's nomination to serve the citizens of our great state," said Crawford. "DIR is a frontline agency and I aim to maintain its course as we continue our great streak of service to our customers and their constituents."
Crawford will replace interim executive director Nick Villalpando, who will continue in his duties as DIR's Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to serving as the executive director, Crawford held the position of Deputy Attorney General for Administration and General Counsel for the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, where she oversaw the administrative and general counsel divisions of the office.
She joined the Office of the Attorney General in 1999 and has since served in a number of positions, including Associate Deputy Attorney General for Legal Counsel and General Counsel for the OAG, Chief of the Open Records Division and more.
Ms. Crawford's role as executive director will be effective Feb. 4, 2019.
