Cybersecurity News
The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) is now accepting applications to certify cybersecurity training programs for FY 2021-2022 (September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022).

Texas Government Code Section 2054.519 requires state and local government employees to annually complete a certified cybersecurity training. DIR in consultation with the Texas Cybersecurity Council is required to certify the cybersecurity training programs required by this legislation.

The application for FY 21-22 training program certifications is now available and will be accepted until July 31, 2021. For training programs that were certified for FY 20-21 and still meet the criteria, there is a Recertification Request available.

Please note that House Bill 1118 (87R) amends some of the cybersecurity training requirements for state and local governments. Significantly, the local government dedicated information resources cybersecurity officer exception was repealed. For FY 21-22, all training programs must be certified.

Visit the DIR Website for additional details and links to the certification and recertification forms.
