The State of Texas Chief Data Officer Ed Kelly has been named one of the 100 most influential people in data in 2022 by the website DataIQ.

Kelly, who became the state's first Chief Data Officer in 2019 after serving as the Statewide Data Coordinator since 2015, was included in the website’s first list of the most influential data and analytics practitioners in the US. Since 2014, DataIQ has been tracking the rise of chief data officers, chief analytics officers, data scientists, data governance experts and the leaders of key vendors and service providers.

Kelly attributed his path to success to the people that he has worked and collaborated with throughout his career. "Without their support, encouragement, and collaboration, the chief data office and my personal and professional achievements would not have been realized,” Kelly said. “Having the opportunity to work with supportive and engaged leadership as well as a team that strives for excellence every day makes the job easier and enjoyable. The Office of Chief Data Officer and our agency are in the business of helping customers be successful, solving challenges and providing value every day. I cannot think of a better testament and measure of our accomplishments."
