AUSTIN - The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has released the 2020-2024 State Strategic Plan for Information Resources Management (SSP). The plan, Advancing the Next Generation of Technology in Texas, was developed to help state agency leaders evaluate technology initiatives that can assist the workforce they support in improving the delivery of services to the citizens of Texas.

Proper planning and resource management can help information technology leaders prepare for and take full advantage of the future of technology statewide.

"At DIR, it is our hope this plan will drive Texas government to continue to lead the nation in the delivery of innovative and cost-effective technology solutions," said Amanda Crawford, DIR's Executive Director.

"I believe this plan is one of the most important documents we generate at DIR because it provides a roadmap for transforming how Texas government serves Texans through technology."

The plan outlines three strategic goals for statewide information technology for the years 2020-2024. These goals, created in partnership with state agencies, universities, and other state stakeholders, consider the needs of today's citizenry while balancing the realities facing state government.

The three strategic goals for information resources management are:

  • Goal 1: Secure IT Service Delivery
  • Goal 2: Advanced Data Management & Digital Services
  • Goal 3: Agile & Automated Strategies

These goals map to 17 actionable objectives that state agencies and institutions of higher education may use in their own strategic planning in providing Texans with access to a secure, digital government.

The detailed plan can be found on the DIR website: dir.texas.gov/ssp
