A complimentary, hands-on workshop presented by Microsoft and Catapult Systems.Sponsored by DIR as part of the Technology Today Series (TTS).

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Your Microsoft State & Local Data Specialist Team is kicking off April with an in-person workshop that will demonstrate how quickly you can use the power of AI in the cloud to connect the dots between documents, audio recordings, and pictures that may have previously considered to be unsearchable (using the John F Kennedy files as an example). From mapping live GPS coordinate feeds to enabling enterprise search capabilities across troves of documents/datapoints we will show you how to use the tools to help gain data insights not easily explored through traditional means.

As a bonus, Catapult Systems will make the same template used in the demonstration available to your agency prior to the event.  In a trial workspace this template can be applied to your public/shareable data with the goal of making the interactive portion of the event as real as possible.

Please join us as we cover a variety of State & Local Government use cases that come to life via the new Data Platform Ingestion, Search, and Storage services found only in Azure.

What you will get from this workshop?

Each participating agency will walk away from this event with two tangible items:

  • Draft Executive Brief

  • Deployed Cognitive Search environment (in a trial subscription) for demo

Who should attend this session?

This workshop is for the following types of Public Sector workers:

  • Business Analysts

  • IT and Business Solution Architects

  • Business Leadership

  • IT Leadership

What do attendees need to bring to the workshop?

Attendees will need to bring a laptop to the workshop with necessary rights to connect to the room's internet.  The labs as a part of this event may include the installation data tools to fully immerse the attendee into data and AI environment.

Government Azure access will be provided to the attendees for the labs used in the demonstrations.  Attendees are not required to bring their own Azure environment.

Note: always follow rules and policies of your IT department.

About the technology being discussed:

Azure Cognitive Search - Cognitive search is an AI feature in Azure Search, used to extract text from images, blobs, and other unstructured data sources - enriching the content to make it more searchable in an Azure Search index. Extraction and enrichment are implemented through cognitive skills attached to an indexing pipeline.
