Data Credibility: Why Should I Believe You?
Thursday, May 7, 2020 | 2:00 - 3:30 pm | Registration
A 60-minute webinar followed by optional Q&A
Presented by Randy Krum of InfoNewt and hosted by DIR as part of the Technology Today Series (TTS).
DIR also thanks TASSCC for supporting this and other DIR educational programs.
Why do you believe the data you read? Why should your audience believe any of the data you're publishing? Today's environment is rife with accusations of fake news, misleading charts and bad data. Audiences will especially challenge your data if the message you're communicating goes against their expectations or (even worse) is bad news.
You need to get your audience over the Data Credibility Hurdle before they will be receptive to your message. Good use of data visualizations and design best practices can be your solution to cut through the noise, and build data credulity with your audience.
In this webinar, we will cover the best practices for establishing your data credibility when designing charts for use in reports, presentations and infographics.
BONUS SESSION
Following the educational session (2-3), the presenter will remain online for a 30-minute informal discussion with those interested. Note - depending on the audience size, we may "open the microphones" for this part, so you may wish to have a headset with microphone or call in. (Typed questions will definitely be accepted also.)
AUDIENCE
This free webinar is open to any public sector employee interested in the topic.
