DIR COVID-19 Series - Cybersecurity Slide Deck (PDF|1.98MB) | Recording

This Town Hall is geared toward Texas state and local government organizations, including school districts, junior colleges and public universities.

Considerations for cybersecurity and being cyber aware are even more important now as organizations are leveraging options for remote access in response to COVID-19. The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) is a key resource for guidance on how to securely work and learn remotely.

Join us for a virtual presentation where we will provide information on the cybersecurity considerations most urgent for the situation at hand. DIR staff from the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer and the Network Operation Security Center will address your questions specific to cybersecurity and navigating COVID-19 cyber threats.

Note: This is part of a series of town hall-type presentations DIR will facilitate during the COVID-19 situation. The first virtual town hall focused on technology and procurement and a copy of the slide presentation is available on the DIR website.

DIR is continually updating our COVID-19 webpage with cybersecurity and IT information to help you meet the needs of those you serve: www.dir.texas.gov/covid19

Resources on DIR's COVID-19 webpage include:

  • Cooperative Contracts for Remote Access and Remote Learning Tools, Products and Services- a streamlined list of teleconferencing, videoconferencing, meeting tools, and learning and training services to support remote access
  • Cyber Hygiene for Remote Access and Work- cybersecurity practices everyone should consider for working remotely
  • Best Practices for Remote Access- including tips for conducting open meetings remotely and best practices for virtual engagements
  • Additional Resources- a catalogue to other agencies and publications relating to COVID19, information technology, and cybersecurity
