John Hoffman, DIR Chief Technology Officer and State of Texas Deputy Chief Information Officer, today was awarded the Trailblazer Award from the Texas Association of State Systems for Computing and Communications (TASSCC).

The Trailblazer Award recognizes senior-level individual leadership and excellence in information technology from state agencies and institutions of higher education. Through this award, Hoffman is  recognized for his leadership skills and behavior, fostering innovative and effective technology, and exceptional organizational strategy and management of change. He received the award at the 2023 TASSCC Annual Conference in Dallas, TX.

"These are some exciting times in technology, and we are all being challenged to meet the increasing demands, " Hoffman said. "The entire team at DIR is continuously driving to provide innovative, effective, and efficient services and support.  I am so thankful for this recognition, and I am looking forward to the future as we work together to meet the needs of the great State of Texas."

John Hoffman has been an exemplary leader representing the Texas Department of Information Resources and the State of Texas, both nationally and within the state, for the last 13 years. After a notable telecom industry career, John came to DIR in 2010 as the Director of Telecom Services and was instrumental in establishing the next generation Tex-AN program contracts. The new “go direct” Tex-AN model shifted state telecom procurement from a single provider to multiple providers offering a broadened services catalog, improving provider choices for customers through more competition, and increasing program efficiencies.
