The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) has released the 2022-2026 State Strategic Plan for Information Resources Management.

The plan, Accelerating the Next Generation of Technology in Texas, was developed to aid state agencies as they evolve to provide Texans a higher level of secure, convenient, and reliable digital services. Proper planning, investment, and management of information technology resources can help state leaders prepare for and take advantage of the rapid technological evolution that continues to improve government services.

DIR presents this plan to partner with agencies in advancing statewide IT goals and to deliver the next level of service and value to Texans,” said Amanda Crawford, DIR’s executive director and State of Texas Chief Information Officer. “By working together toward these common goals, Texas will continue to lead the way in transforming the delivery of government services for the better.”

DIR created the plan in partnership with state agencies, universities, and other stakeholders, outlining four strategic statewide information technology goals for the years 2022-2026. The goals consider both the evolving needs of Texans and the practical realities facing state government.

The four strategic goals for information resources management are:

  • Goal 1: Secure IT Service Delivery
  • Goal 2: Advanced Data Management
  • Goal 3: Strategic Digital Transformation
  • Goal 4: Proactive Approach to Emerging Technologies

These goals map to 16 actionable objectives that state agencies and institutions of higher education may use in their own strategic planning to provide Texan’s access to secure, digital government through well-designed and innovative technology solutions.
